Green Cleaning for Nashville Homes

Clean carpet should be clean all the way down, without a sticky film left in the pile. At Deep Steam Floor Care & Restoration, green cleaning isn’t an upgrade you have to ask for: we use green cleaning solutions, selected for the material and used according to manufacturer directions.

We pair them with truck-mounted hot water extraction, so your carpet gets a real rinse and the soil leaves your home instead of staying in the pile. We clean carpet, upholstery, tile and grout, and area rugs for homes across Nashville and Middle Tennessee, from our shop on Riverbend Drive and our locations in Murfreesboro, Smyrna and Clarksville. For prices, drying times and booking, see our main page for carpet cleaning in Nashville, or call or text (615) 482-5590 for a free quote.

What Green Carpet Cleaning Means at Deep Steam

“Green” is a word that gets stretched a lot, so here is what it means for us:

  • Matched to the material. We clean with green solutions selected for the material and used according to manufacturer directions.
  • Rinsed out, not left behind. Hot water extraction flushes the solution back out along with the soil. With less residue, carpet stays cleaner longer and doesn’t feel stiff or sticky.
  • No heavy perfume. We would rather remove the source of an odor than cover it with fragrance.
  • Less water left in your home. Strong truck-mounted suction pulls most of the water back out. The carpet is left damp, not soaked, and usually dries in about 4 to 8 hours.
  • One standard for every room. The same green approach goes into your carpet, upholstery, tile and grout.

Thoughtful Cleaning for Busy Homes

Busy homes put carpet to work. What stays in the carpet after a cleaning matters as much as what comes out.

Heavy shampoos can leave a film in the fibers. That film grabs new dirt, so carpet that looked great on Monday looks dull again a few weeks later. We work the other way around: green solutions, selected for the material and used according to manufacturer directions, loosen the soil, then a hot water rinse and strong suction carry it away.

One practical tip: keep kids and pets off the carpet until it’s dry. Damp carpet picks up dirt quickly, and wet feet can be slippery on nearby stairs and hard floors.

Green Doesn't Mean Weak: How the Cleaning Works

Some people assume a gentler solution means a weaker clean. With hot water extraction, heat, agitation and suction do the heavy lifting, so the solution doesn’t have to be harsh.

  1. Inspection. We walk the rooms with you, check the fiber, and point out any stains or wear that may not come out before we start.
  2. Vacuum and pre-treat. We remove dry soil first, then pre-treat traffic lanes and spots with our green solutions.
  3. Agitation. We work the solution into the pile so it can loosen the oily soil at the base of the fibers.
  4. Hot water rinse. Our truck-mounted system rinses the carpet with heated water and pulls it straight back out with powerful suction.
  5. Pet treatment where needed. Urine spots get an enzyme treatment and time to work before the rinse. Learn more about pet treatment and odor control.
  6. Grooming and drying. We groom the pile and set air movers where they help. Most carpet is dry in about 4 to 8 hours.

Truck-Mounted Equipment Makes Green Cleaning Work Better

Our heat and suction come from equipment on the truck. The loosened soil, the used solution and the dirty water all travel back out through the hose instead of staying in your home. Stronger suction also leaves less moisture in the carpet and backing, which helps it dry faster. The engine and vacuum pump stay outside, so no loud machine runs in your living room while you go about your day. To learn more, read about our truck-mounted hot water extraction.

Green Cleaning for Upholstery, Rugs, Tile and Hardwood

  • Upholstery. We clean couches and sectionals where they sit, after testing a hidden spot on the fabric. Delicate fabrics get a low-moisture method. A couch with up to three seats is $175, and a sectional is $300. See upholstery cleaning.
  • Area rugs. Wool, silk and Oriental rugs are washed in-plant at Silk & Shine Rug Spa, where the wash and drying can be matched to each fiber.
  • Tile and grout. Pre-treatment, agitation and a controlled high-pressure rinse pull soil out of the grout lines. See tile and grout cleaning.
  • Hardwood. Cleaning, screen and recoat, and sand and stain refinishing, with controlled moisture. Hot water extraction is never used on wood. See hardwood floor care.
