TRUCK-MOUNTED CARPET CLEANING

When people ask what makes a professional carpet cleaning different from renting a machine, the honest answer is the equipment. Deep Steam Floor Care & Restoration cleans carpet with top-of-the-line truck-mounted hot water extraction systems. Paired with our green solutions, which are safe for kids and pets, they give your carpet a thorough rinse and leave it damp, not soaked.

This page explains what a truck-mounted system is, what it does better than a portable machine, and what to expect when our truck pulls up to your home in Nashville or anywhere in Middle Tennessee.

What Is Truck-Mounted Hot Water Extraction?

Hot water extraction is the method most people call “steam cleaning.” Heated water and cleaning solution are rinsed through the carpet pile, then pulled right back out with strong suction, carrying the loosened soil with them.

With a truck-mounted system, the machinery that heats the water and creates the suction is built into our work vehicle. The truck stays parked outside. Hoses run from the truck to the room we’re cleaning, and our technician works with a cleaning wand on the end of the hose. The loosened soil and dirty water go back through the hose to a waste tank on the truck, not into your sink or toilet.

What a Truck-Mounted System Does Better

Stronger, steadier heat. Heat helps loosen the body oils, cooking grease and traffic film that hold dirt to carpet fibers. A truck-mounted system keeps the rinse water hot from the first room to the last, so the cleaning doesn’t lose strength halfway through the house.

Much stronger suction. Suction is what actually removes the soil and the water. Truck-mounted vacuum power is far stronger than a plug-in machine’s, so more dirt, more solution and more water leave the carpet. That matters most in traffic lanes, around pet areas and in older carpet with years of buildup.

Faster drying. Because more water is pulled back out, the carpet is left damp instead of wet. Most carpet we clean is dry in about 4 to 8 hours, depending on the carpet, the airflow and the weather. We set air movers where they help, and your AC or a ceiling fan speeds things along. Less moisture in the carpet also means less moisture reaching the pad underneath.

No machine noise inside your home. The engine, heater and vacuum pump all stay outside on the truck. Inside, you’ll hear the wand moving across the carpet and some airflow through the hose. No loud machine runs in your living room, so kids can nap, pets stay calmer, and you can take a phone call.

Soil leaves your house. Everything we pull out of the carpet goes straight to the truck. You won’t find a bucket of dirty water in your kitchen.

Less residue. A strong rinse carries the cleaning solution back out with the soil. Carpet without sticky residue stays cleaner longer and feels softer underfoot.

Green Solutions and Truck-Mounted Power Work Together

Strong heat and suction mean the solution doesn’t need to be harsh. We pre-treat with green solutions that are safe for kids and pets, agitate them into the pile, then rinse and extract with the truck-mounted system. Pet urine spots get an enzyme treatment and time to work before the rinse. Read more about our approach on the green and safe carpet cleaning page.

What to Expect on Cleaning Day

  • Parking. We park as close as we can to the door nearest the rooms being cleaned. Let us know about gates, HOA rules or tight driveways when you book.
  • Hoses. We run hoses through a door that stays slightly open while we work, then roll them back up when we’re done.
  • Pets and kids. Keep them in another room while we work, then off the carpet until it’s dry.
  • Furniture. We can move light and moderate furniture. Larger pieces can be cleaned around.
  • Inspection first. Your technician walks the rooms with you, explains what’s likely to come out, and confirms the price before starting.

When We Use a Different Method

A truck-mounted system is our first choice for carpet, but it isn’t the right tool for every surface or building:

  • High-rises and buildings without truck access. Where hoses can’t reach, such as some upper-floor condos and apartments, we bring portable equipment. Tell us about access when you call.
  • Delicate upholstery. Natural and delicate fabrics get a gentler low-moisture method after a hidden fabric test. See upholstery cleaning.
  • Fine area rugs. Wool, silk and Oriental rugs are washed in-plant at Silk & Shine Rug Spa instead of on your floor.
  • Hardwood. Wood is never cleaned with hot water extraction. Our hardwood floor care covers cleaning, screen and recoat, and sand and stain, all with controlled moisture.

You can walk on it carefully in clean socks right away. Most carpet is fully dry in about 4 to 8 hours.
